Ed Kennedy is an underage cabdriver without much of a future. He's pathetic at playing cards, hopelessly in love with his best friend, Audrey, and utterly devoted to his coffee-drinking dog, The Doorman. His life is one of peaceful routine and incompetence until he inadvertently stops a bank robbery.

That's when the first ace arrives in the mail.
That's when Ed becomes the messenger.
Chosen to care, he makes his way through town helping and hurting (when necessary) until only one question remains: Who's behind Ed's mission.

It was my first time reading Markus Zusak's works. I've been captivating by watching a movie based on his novel titled The Book Thief, and thinking to give the books a try. So I bought the books, The Book Thief and I Am The Messenger.

Well, this book is not bad but I'm not really into it in the start. But as well as I get along with the story, I start to like the story and its style.

This is a young-adult book and first I thought I'm not really into this kind of story. It looks so shallow from the start but at least it has an interesting plot and detail setting. And the story really motivates us as the young-adult people.

What would you do if someone told you that you are actually a hero, but you're not provided by a power nor the ability to solve the problem. That's actually what happened to Ed Kennedy. He's only given a clue that he should give a "message" to certain people mentioned in a card. He has no idea who's behind the scene.

That's what I hate from this book. The ending. We don't know exactly who's the man behind this idea. Until the very end of this book.

But this book has taught me something. About the friendship, family, and how we should care to our surrounding. Try to look deeper and see others point of view. Then you will learn something from it. Give what you can give to them. Even the very little thing could move their hearts. And you will realize that you also get something by giving to their happiness. Even an ordinary boy like Ed Kennedy could make a move and doing something to the society. And so do we.

If a guy like you can stand up and do what you did, then maybe everyone can.
Maybe everyone can live beyond what they're capable of.

I'm not the messenger.
I am the message.
