Synopsis:

In this propulsive novel, one of the most idiosyncratically brilliant writers at work in any language fuses science fiction, the hard-boiled thriller, and white-hot satire into a new element of the library periodic table.

As he searches for a mysteriously vanished girlfriend, Haruki Murakami's protagonist plunges into a wind tunnel of sexual violence and metaphysical dread in which he collides with call girls; plays chaperon to a lovely teenage psychic; and receives cryptic instructions from a shabby but oracular Sheep Man.

Dance Dance Dance is a tense, poignant, and often hilarious ride through the cultural Cuisinart that is contemporary Japan, a place where everything that is not up for sale is up for grabs.

The more I read Haruki Murakami books the more I understand his style of writing. The story always goes the same. The main character is a simple man displaced into an absurd reality. Always surreal. And the heroine was lost, just disappeared like a smoke.

But that's what I like from Haruki Murakami.

This time, the hero was involved in a serial murder case that also makes his lover to be one of the victims.
This story includes some surreal things. Dolphin Hotel, several girls named Mei, Yuki, Kiki, and an old friend named Gotanda.

One thing that always shows up in Haruki Murakami stories, darkness. Somehow this darkness takes a shape and sometimes it's absurd. But it reals, alive.

The annoying thing of this book is when the Sheep Man talks. It doesn't has a space in the words so you have to read it carefully and slowly. I hate this part, but thank God it only comes in several part.

The reasons why I love this story are: Haruki Murakami never failed in spelling the story, the diction always fit in and amazing in a simply way (not only in this book but in all his work). This story is like a detective story, in an absurd reality. The ending has no settlement but at least the hero has something to grasp on, not in a state of losing mind anymore.

I bought this book from online bookstore, and still collecting all of Haruki Murakami books. (loyal fan detected) ^^
